There are so many different types of customers. We have friendly ones, not so friendly ones, rushed ones and ones that want to chat and tell us all about what’s going on, what they want to do and what they have done in the past. I prefer the friendly ones that like to chat a little but not too much, only because there’s so many people to assist and I don’t want anyone to feel overlooked. I have learned so much about amps, ohms, and watts just from customers telling me what they have and what they really want. I’ve assisted in building systems that hit (I didn’t know what that meant when I started) and I’ve helped find batteries and alternators that work with the setup the customer has. I love it when a customer is willing to take the time to talk about what they are looking for so that I can make sure to get them exactly what they want. We get to hear about their setups and what worked for them and if we’re lucky, they will send up pictures and video. We LOVE getting pictures and videos. I love that I get to listen to the big sound while working! It doesn’t feel like a job working with most of our customers, it feels like a hobby. We laugh and joke and have great conversations. One thing I hear often is “Thank you for being real” or “You are great, you’re not like a robot”. That’s a huge deal to me. I don’t want to come across as stiff or robotic. I hope to keep making customers smile, they sure bring smiles to my face!
