Adding an alternator is not always ideal for some people, a little hard on the pockets, but a great upgrade, nonetheless. Think of your stock alternator as only being a 100a alternator, then take into consideration your A/C pulling 24a, your defroster pulling 20a, your power windows, your radio and let’s not forget how much it takes to even start your car.
Taking into account all of that, adding some subs, upgraded door speakers, an after-market radio, and some amps, then you’re pulling way too much for your alternator to handle. Dimming lights, low bass hits, some weird sounds and a burning smell are some indicators of a bad alternator.
Good thing we now carry Mechman Alternators, which isn’t hard to match to your vehicle, and we even offer custom colors for $35 more. For the people with weird cars, sadly, in the words of our Mechman rep, Tony Bolton, “Just throw them a big ole lithium battery!”
You can always contact our customer service team, even though we aren’t professionals, we’ll get you into the most compatible, if not direct, fit alternator. And if that isn’t possible, we’ll get you the best lithium battery alternate we can.
