Important Installation & Idle Notes:
This 320 Amp model is intended for customers who prioritize maximum charging output, but it may not be the best choice for every vehicle.
The alternator uses a smaller 1.75-inch diameter pulley, so a slightly shorter drive belt will be required to maintain proper belt tension.
Because of the high-output design, some vehicles with a low factory idle may experience low voltage or little-to-no charging output at idle. This is especially important on vehicles idling around 400-600 RPM.
Customers who experience low idle output may need to:
- Increase engine idle speed by approximately 200 RPM
- Slightly raise engine RPM while stopped when additional charging output is needed
For customers who prioritize maximum charging performance at factory idle, Mechman recommends considering their 240 Amp version instead.
