This past weekend NHRA Pro Stock Driver Camrie Caruso took to the track multiple times, first with the 8 qualifiers for the Pro Stock All-Stars and then with the field for the Gerber Collision & Glass NHRA Route 66 Nationals. This was the first specialty race of its kind for the Pro Stock division. The top seeded contestants picked their opponents from the 8 qualified drivers. In the first round, Camrie was chosen by Cristian Cuadra, and she made quick work of her first opponent after Cuadra struggled off the line.
Camrie’s semi final run also went well as Troy Coughlin Jr challenged her in the second round but came up short to Caruso’s 6.540 second time. Caruso became the last KB Titan team member standing in the finals. The All-Star Callout was incredibly close in the final round; Camrie Caruso and Aaron Stanfield faced off for the title and with a margin of victory of .004 seconds Camrie became the first Pro Stock All-Star Callout champion.
In the NHRA Route 66 Nationals qualifiers, Caruso placed 5th heading into the opening round of the finals. The opening round of the Nationals race proved to be a bit tougher when Camrie went head-to-head with Jerry Tucker. Tucker had an immaculate reaction time of .000 seconds off the line. Camrie still posted an impressive 6.561 second run but was not enough to overcome Tucker’s perfect reaction time.
You can watch Camrie’s next race at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals on June 9th – 11th in Bristol Tennessee.
